Roleplaying Hints: There’s nothing better than a well-told tale, and you’re an expert at the task. Cut youngsters a little slack, don’t let elders get too stodgy, and always be ready to learn and teach. Work students hard, they’ll thank you for it one day.

Background: Ian Corrigan has lead a bizarre life, even for a Garou. Orphaned in a staged car wreck, he underwent his First Change as his sister Awakened. They were found and protected by a vampire who was once Black Spiral Kinfolk (see New Orleans by Night) who took them to the Bayou Endormi sept. Since then, he’s met every kind of supernatural critter imaginable, and made enemies and allies with many of them; stopped a war between tribes and nearly started one between the Fae and the Fianna; even made love with an ancient goddess. His greatest achievement, which earned him a place in the Silver Record, was to recover the Four Treasures of the Fianna: The Spear of Lugh, the Sword of Victory, the Cauldron of Plenty and the Stone of Destiny.

Since gaining such great renown, he has settled down as leader of his own sept, living on a farm with his wife and two "special" children. He still makes frequent trips to Tara to "keep things lively."

Currently, he fronts the band Kith’n’Kin; besides singing, he plays the Celtic flute, melodion, harp, and bodhran.

Background: Brian was well-liked by his pack. He was honorable and wise, daring and ambitious. He had expectations of leading a sept one day. Then he accidentally killed his mate in a rage. When his mind cleared, he nearly went made with grief and remorse, soon falling into Harano despite the assistance of his pack. He left his sept and lived alone for over two years. The combined efforts of Ian and an Irish theurge helped him recover. Ian offered him the position of Caern Warder, thinking that he would be good at the position, but as importantly, the responsibility would be good for Brian. Brian accepted, and by throwing his energies into his duty, he usually manages to keep his old ghosts at bay.

When he has time, he hones his woodcarving skills.

Roleplaying Hints: Though you're often serious and even reserved, there's nothing you like better than music, dance, or a scratch behind the ears.

Background : A Scot by birth, Caoilte was lucky enough to have aware Kinfolk for parents. Her passion for music and dance developed at a tender age. She claims she toddled away from her home one evening and came upon faeries dancing and singing achingly melodious tunes. Only the intervention of her searching parents kept her from going away with them. Her parents indulged her passion, and she soon became accomplished with several instruments and dances. Her First Change came early, giving plenty of time to adjust to her new life.

After a few years in Scotland, she began to travel around, first to Ireland, then Europe, and finally the United States. She would visit Fianna septs, spend a few months or a year trading tales and fighting beside her new friends before heading off to the next group. After nearly a decade of vagabonding, she ended up in Vancouver. A few months later, she joined Ian's new band, Kith'n'Kin. When Ian moved to North Carolina to form a new sept, she tagged along.

Among her arts, she is a leatherworker, plays the harp, flute, guitar and piano, and does some excellent Highland dances.

Roleplaying Hints: You're pretty laid back about problems and obstacles, and have a pretty long fuse. You are open to wonder, whether it’s a neat new software application, a beautiful song, or the healing of a child.

Background: Kyle was an accomplished general surgeon, healing ills which often couldn’t be diagnosed by others. He did this by finding the Bane which slowly poisoned the victim, and destroying it.

His wife died in an accident, leaving him to raise two young children, Evan and Erin (neither of which – he thought – were Garou). A few years later, war between leech and Garou, erupted in Chicago. Worried for his kids, he decided a move was in order. So for several years, he and his children lived quietly in Seattle, taking no involvement in Garou society. Evan, who know something of the Garou joined the army and is stationed in Alaska, where he made connections with Kinfolk of other tribes.

Then his daughter, who was ignorant of her heritage, saw Kyle accidentally change into Crinos. Alarmed, she fled northward to find her brother. Along the way, she discovered that she was also Garou, and quickly came to terms with the fact. He and his daughter joined a fledgling sept and moved to North Carolina. Now he makes his living as a consulting physician and a graphic designer. With his Erin’s help, his web sites include the most comprehensive link system to all things Celtic, from pagan religion to mythology to music to history. He has also thrown himself into making up for his lost years by learning and enacting rites as the spiritual leader of the sept.

Roleplaying Hints: Generally grumpy, you are always ready to point out others' flaws after they have become evident. You're also a bit flashy and vain, and take time before a battle to wash and primp.

Background: Born in a highland home, his family lived much as they had for hundreds of years; frills like television and heated indoor bathrooms were frowned upon. When he was 10 he stumbled upon the Family Secret when he saw his father attack a Wyrm beast. From then on, the taught him everything about his heritage. A hard life made Duncan tough and uncompromising. His rite of passage was more difficult than most; among the cubs, only he survived to complete the mission. Because of some creative and inspiring piping during battle, he was given the name Warchanter, which is his preferred moniker.

He formed the Crow’s Caw pack and took Morrigu Macha as its totem, doing his best to live up to her darkly glorious ideals. His whole pack fell trying to warn the Fianna of a Black Spiral invasion of the tribal homeland in the Umbra. After the attack was repulsed, he howled his companions into the next life, and then cast about for a new purpose. Erin Kelly had served with distinction in the battle, and he decided to travel with her to her sept in North Carolina, and he’s decided to stay for a while.

Warchanter shows no mercy when the Wyrm is concerned. Both his Kinfolk sister and his cousin became tainted by the Wyrm. When Warchanter was sure they were beyond recovery, he slew them both. He can play both Highland and Uilean bagpipes.

Roleplaying Hints: Your realistic view of the world’s corruption hasn’t dampened your idealism and adherence to the traditions of your ancestors. Law is law, but you are capable of distinguishing between law and justice.

Background: Red spent his early years in Canada under the tutelage of Truth-of-Hearts, a famed lawspeaker, who taught him the traditions and customs of his people. It was his mentor’s recommendation that earned him Ian’s notice, who asked the promising philodox to join his sept. He hopes to become the sept Truthcatcher one day, but is content as Master of the Challenge.

Red Ruff is a competent painter. His landscapes are displayed in human homes, while his portrayals of epic Fianna battles grace the walls of more than a few Garou elders.

Roleplaying Hints: Generally a good-natured and boistrous good ol’boy, you can get riled in the blink of an eye. You get real nervy during the full moon.

Background: Johnny Firsted earlier than most, and at ten he was inducted into Garou life. Five years later, he was looking for a manly profession (which could show off his already impressive physique), and blacksmithing seemed the way to go. He apprenticed with another Garou who showed him some secrets forgotten by mortal smiths. Pokers, lanterns, horseshoes, caldrons – the boy showed an aptitude for the job. Later, he branched out into weaponsmithing.

Johnny heard about the new sept and eagerly asked to join, hoping his metalwork skills would be truly appreciated. And they have been, though not as much as the talespinners' art.

Good at forging and good at fighting, Johnny sometimes feels undervalued by his sept.

Roleplaying Hints: You’re friendly and eager to impress. You seem a little spacey sometimes, because of spiritual distractions. You’d rather help than lead.

Background: She was aware of spirits as a child -- they were her "imaginary playmates." They kept her company when her parents ignored and neglected her. Her aunt, the only adult who paid attention to her, knew a lot about brewing and distilling, and Angie picked up the hobby.

When Angie’s parents completely forgot her 16th birthday, she ran away to Kingston, a college town in the next county. There she hung out at the college or wandered around downtown, spending the night in abandoned buildings. After a couple of weeks, she was found by Erin Kelly, who soon figured out something was odd about the girl. Angie’s heritage soon discovered, the two girls became fast friends.

Angie is knowledgeable about and adept at dealing with spirits; Kyle Kelly takes a big hand in her training. She often has a faraway look in her eyes, for she sees and hears spirits all around. She's a avid brewer, making meads and beers whenever she can.

Roleplaying Hints: Be playful, almost like a Ragabash, and a bit impertinent. You respect elders but aren’t afraid to express your opinion. Not much frightens you; your Will is strong, especially for a Fianna. When it is time to be deadly serious, you can easily do that too.

Background: Erin grew up as a happy go lucky child, always insatiably curious and maybe a little mouthy to boot. Some called her impetuous; others thought her irresistible. Her father and brother doted on her, and she probably would’ve been painfully spoiled if she wasn’t basically a good kid at heart, unselfish and full of fun. Then, when she was just past 17, she saw her gentle father transform into a hulking beast-thing. Erin fled to find her brother Scott, who was stationed at an army base in Alaska. She got tangled up with a bunch of Red Talons who were so desperate to increase their tribe, they were grudgingly willing to admit a homid Garou…for that’s exactly what Erin was. She knew nothing of her werewolf heritage until the Red Talons took her through the First Change, and it was exhilarating. About the time she’d realized she needed to move on, her father caught up with her and told Erin his side of the story. They reunited and eventually moved to North Carolina where Erin has become Ian’s favorite protegee.

Roleplaying Hints: Never let things get boring. Surprise people, play pranks on your sept mates, and be sure to enjoy life.

Background: Born into the Tri-Spiral sept in Ireland, it was clear to all the pup was a Ragabash. She soon became an ever-present annoyance. She spent time in Tara, making elders laugh and occasionally getting swatted when her pranks went too far.

Pranking around during a Dublin mission, she was captured and caged next to a beautiful Russian timber wolf. When rescued (by Ian), she insisted the wolf be brought along. The smitten Neverwise soon bore a litter of pups with the foreigner's help, and when biologists started closing in, she, her pups and her mate came to America. Not being Kinfolk, the wolf wasn't comfortable being surrounded by all the Rage. Saddened, Neverwise took him to British Columbia and bade him goodbye. A year later, she said goodbye to her four fully grown Kinfolk offspring, who now likewise wander the Canadian forests.

Roleplaying Hints: The Corrigan twins mean more to you than life, and you spend your time doting on them. The others don’t think much about you, but that’s something you’re used to.

Background: It's amazing this metis wasn't killed outright. As it was, she spent many very unhappy years, running at the periphery of the pack, an omega even among Kinfolk. Rejected, she spent more time among spirits than among her kin, and cultivated strong relationships with many. Theurges noticed this, and accorded her some grudging respect.

When her pack attacked a Pentex toxic waste dump in Alaska, it was her spirit allies who warned her of the ambush. She called to the other Garou, but they didn't hear her until the silver bullets flew. The pack fled while she slowed the pursuit. Staggered by bullet wounds, she fell into a pit of toxic sludge. Courageous spirits helped her stumble out, but not before the fumes corroded her mind.

For months, she wandered alone, thin and sickly, before a mad mage and an evil faerie noble found her. She was set to guard and nursemaid two young children stolen from the Garou. When the vengeful father (Ian Corrigan) retrieved the babes, he took pity on the pathetic metis who had come to see his kids as her own. His mage sister, Thea, did what alterations she could to improve Luna Moth's appearance, making her bearable to look at on a full stomach. She diligently watches over her charges, who refer to her as "Auntie Luna."

A jaggling spirit known as The Misshapen (see Axis Mundi, p 104, for details) attached itself to her after she was wounded in Alaska. The spirit hangs around near her at all times, and while it’s bigger than a Crinos, it blends in perfectly with its surroundings. The spirit is very protective of Luna, and metis in general, and keeps her company when she’s lonely.

Background: Her favorite cousin, Patti, was a member of Warchanter's pack, and served as his shield maiden. Chloe wanted to follow in Patti's footsteps, and when Patti died beneath the claws of Black Spirals, she determined to pick up her sister's shield. Knowing anyone wanting to join the sept must come with an art, she went to her grandmother to learn how to spin and weave. When she was skilled enough (just enough), she went to North Carolina. In peace or war, she’s often at Warchanter’s side. Her pack totem is Morrigu Macha.
