Practically no other Camarilla city supports as many Lasombra antitribu as Baltimore, earning it the nickname "City of Shadows." The reputation of their Sabbat brothers earns them much suspicion. While Lasombra are by nature devious and unforgiving of weakness, the antitribu of Baltimore are staunch supporters of the current prince; should James fall, they know all would come down to a race between the paranoid Camarilla and the vengeful Sabbat, with Lasombra blood as the prize. Already one of their number has been struck down by a Sabbat war party, and more will follow if they are not exceedingly careful.

Roleplaying Hints: Find the weaknesses in everyone, so that you may undermine enemies and shore up friends. Be polite, and willing to listen to everyone down to the freshest neonate, but remember slights and foolish errors.
Background: Gretchen remembers nothing of her Embrace, and precious little of her life. She was discovered in a pool of gore by the lieutenant to the Prince of London. Ever chivalrous towards women and children, her savior, James Musgrave, formally adopted the Caitiff (so everyone supposed). Nearly two decades later, her true sire came forth: an antitribu named Camilo Goya del Fuentes.

Gretchen was heartbroken when James was lost at sea, but as his adopted childe she gained significant status financial stability. She met her grandsire, the Prince of Buenos Aires. In she joined the Sabbat. Overjoyed when James resurfaced in Washington, she risked much to aid him. He in turn rescued her when a member of the Black Hand discovered her connection to him. Gretchen's intelligence on the Sabbat was crucial to Baltimore's recapture. Now she stands at the Prince's right hand. Other Kindred will use her as an intercessor to the Prince, which allows her to get a lot of dirt. The threat from both the Sabbat and the suspicious minds among the Camarilla necessitate constant vigilance and preparation; she tests her clanmates periodically to ensure their ability to deal with any challenge.

Gretchen respects James a great deal, and is even fond of him, but feels she's paid whatever debts she owed from the past.

Background: Born of a Russian father and a French mother, Orlenda learned much from both cultures. Her education took an new turn with the coming of World War II; she joined of the Maquis. The cell's leader was a woman named Gabrielle, who was both lucky and skilled. For several years, the cell proved very troublesome to the Germans.

Then, everything went wrong. A botched raid ended with half the cell dead or captured, Orlenda gravely wounded, and the SS converging on the survivors. In the meeting house, Gabrielle tended the fallen while the others prepared their escape. Gabrielle came in, announced Orlenda was dead, and ordered everyone to leave so she could set the charges. As soon as they were away, she Embraced the dying fighter and spirited her through an underground passage. It took over a week of furtive travel to reach Spain, and even longer to evade Sabbat Lasombra to board a ship bound for Argentina. In time, Gabrielle became prince of Buenos Aires, and by her side Orlenda learned what it was to be Lasombra antitribu.

In the seventies Orlenda became enamoured with Bushido, for the samurai's warrior code fit very closely with her own sense of honor and devotion to duty. She studied Japanese history and sword techniques, and even trained with a kenjutsu master. Her sire gave her a very fine katana for her Embrace Day, and she has worn it with pride ever since. In the past few decades, she has incorporated samurai ways into both her code of behavior and her fighting style.

Gabrielle felt that she owed James a great debt for her grandchilde's very existence. Upon James' stunning success in Baltimore, Gabrielle offered her childe as a personal bodyguard to clean the slate. Orlenda serves as personal bodyguard, chief interrogator/torturer, executioner, and general investigator to the prince (not unlike a magistrate to the daimyo), and she has proven capable in each function. Her skills and authority inspire respect and not a little fear among younger Kindred.

Haven: Most of her days are spent in James' haven. However, she also owns (through a ghoul) a cheap motel; one of the rooms is specially fortified and reserved for her at all times (for someone of her tastes, it would be an unexpected bolt-hole).

Roleplaying Hints: People don't have much value except as tools, but it doesn't pay to let others in on this little secret. You know enough to play along with the game. You can fake friendliness to some extent, but the perceptive eventually see the coldness in your eyes.
Background: Nancy was a high school senior with plans to "go into computers." The Sabbat derailed her plans, and stripped away her humanity. A Tzimice altered her face to impersonate a captured Camarilla spy, and sent on a mission to bring down a powerful Ventrue. She failed, and it was a great mercy that she wasn't destroyed. Instead, Nancy was "reprogrammed" and brought into the Camarilla. Under the mentorship of the spy whose face she once wore, she is being trained in computer programming and computer graphics.

Nancy isn't the person she was in high school. She doesn't care much about people, seeing them as tools. She has a limited understanding of Kindred politics, and knows enough not to get herself into trouble. Her mentor, Gretchen, recognizes that the deprogramming sessions didn't truly bring back her humanity, but the girl's computer skills make her too valuable an asset to waste.
